For die-hard fans of psychedelic, space, kraut, or stoner rock, the band’s name has often appeared in the musical firmament. FARFLUNG have been making their rounds there regularly for decades, darting by in elliptical arcs, surfacing, and vanishing again. They have left behind numerous split EPs, live albums, singles, and a handful of albums that were true genre highlights. Now the time seems to have come again, and on the horizon circles “This Capsule,” a sprawling, unsettling, and groundbreaking masterpiece.

FARFLUNG have collaborated with greats such as Nic Turner (Hawkwind), Damo Suzuki (Can), Helios Creed (Chrome), Gene Trautman (QOTSA), Lydia Lunch, and many more.  Henry Rollins named them among his top 5 favorites in Spin Magazine, and Voivod invited them to the Au-delà du Réel event they curated at the 2012 Roadburn festival.
Eccentric underground heroes who no longer have to prove anything to anyone, but instead shut themselves in their sound capsule, start the engines, and embark on a journey through their own worlds. And that’s exactly what “This Capsule” offers in its 53 minutes.
