Five  — that’s the title of the new album. From Berlin, founded in 1998. Started as a trio, now a quartet. Four albums plus one live album. Numerous national and international tours. Germany, Europe, the U.S. And now their fifth release: 8 songs, 43 minutes. Facts, facts, facts—numerically and mathematically boiled down to the essentials. Is this typical of Rotor—making their voice heard without a singer, without lyrics, purely instrumentally, and generally without many words, while defying the usual media mechanisms? Not at all. Instrumental rock—a musical style that can quickly sound formulaic and coldly mechanical—but ROTOR are simply too passionate and unbridled to live up to those accusations. Because anyone who has experienced the band live knows their infectious energy and charisma and comes very close to the band’s true essence.
