The third album—and what an album it is!! After the first two albums, everything was rethought and called into question. The trio has become a duo. Musically stripped down, pared back, and all excess baggage thrown overboard. Guitar, drums, vocals. Trible-like rhythms drive endlessly forward. The sound is dark, powerful, deep, and menacing. The backbone is blues, primal and shamanic. In an endless process, they sought ways to capture the band’s own vision in the studio and in the adjacent garage. And the band has found its own sound! Comparisons fall short and stumble. This has nothing to do with the bluesy duos currently being celebrated in the media. No White Stripes, no Black Keys, no Royal Blood, or DFA1979. A quality all its own, a version of THE PICTUREBOOKS all their own. It’s no surprise that the band is first celebrated in the U.S. and returns from there to Germany, to Europe, France, England, Holland, Spain... endless tours and a great album in tow: IMAGINARY HORSE.
