The debut album was released by Robotor Records, the label founded by KADAVAR, who then found they had too little time alongside their own band activities and thankfully recommended the band to Noisolution.

Then came “Role Models”, danceable, sleazy, full of pop and yet a hefty heavy rock album. Reminiscent of the late 80s, punk was over, wave was over, metal was coming, alternative rock was knocking on the door… SPLINTER have a bit of everything. “Heavy rock ‘n’ roll” is pretty accurate. Sometimes I also refer to the punk foundations of the band, because it’s cheeky, defiant, and unorthodox,” says singer Douwe Truijens. “The punk sound with a Hammond organ and the energy and dance moves of the singer are very unique,” says Douwe with a smile. “To me, it’s very important that the songs are catchy and danceable. I always love bands that have that. It doesn’t have to be soft music to be poppy; it can still rock heavily and make your hips swing.”

The EP “Alles kaputt” released in 2025, is a musical restart for the quartet from Leiden, Netherlands, who don’t really destroy everything, but put everything together in a surprisingly different way. Songs that Dave Vanian could hardly sing better, the dark side of punk meets the usual delicate guitars and keyboards, sometimes reminiscent of The Stranglers, sometimes of The Doors. SPLINTER seem to have found themselves and present epic pop anthems with safety pins in their hair. Songs that never lose sight of the dance floor – and anyone who has ever seen the band and frontman Douwe knows what we’re talking about.

The journey continues, from 70s rock to early 80s leather jacket punk with plenty of wave in their blood and, above all, always with a keen sense of entertainment.
