Some albums are simply collections of songs. Others are the result of a lifetime’s work. This album clearly falls into the second category. Songwriter and frontman Renaud Mayeur has been writing and recording songs for more than twenty years and has toured with renowned Belgian bands such as Hulk, La Muerte, and Triggerfinger. In addition, composing film scores opened up new horizons and prompted him to explore classical, electronic, and traditional music, while at the same time fundamentally reshaping his approach to songwriting. Along the way, he collaborated with JJ Burnel (The Stranglers) and shared the stage with Captain Sensible (The Damned).
Then an unexpected diagnosis brought him to a halt: an inoperable brain tumor. Against all odds, his condition stabilized—and eventually, the tumor even shrank. This experience strengthened his resolve to write songs with honesty, clarity, and determination, and he founded SUECIDE HIGH with old friends.

The quartet blends heavy rock, grunge, ’90s alternative, and punk rock with the stylish attitude and lightheartedness so often displayed by Belgian bands—an approach that elegantly avoids clichés and delivers a fresh sound. Twelve songs. Simple. Direct. Stripped of all that’s superfluous. Less is more. Every riff, every melody, and every lyric has its reason for being. No detours, no excess, no self-aggrandizement—songs that get straight to the point.
Lyrically, the album paints a picture of a world shaped by fear, manipulation, and disillusionment, without ever succumbing to fatalism. Dark humor, astute observations, and resilience run through every single track.
