Das neue Album „Ancients“ ist vielfältiger im Sound als seine Vorgänger. Es behält seinen dunklen und mächtigen Sound, ist aber transparenter und klarer. Die Stimme von Sänger und Gitarrist Dave Cavalier ist selbstbewusster denn je, mit weniger Effekt und Distortion, aber fasziniert umso mehr mit seiner verzweifelten und fast zerbrechlichen Art.
Drummer Elias Schutzman erzählt über den Album-Titel: “The album title Ancients has a sort of double meaning for us. Within the title track, it refers to the old, white, conservative element of society and politics that wants to drag us back into the past and away from the progressive values we believe in. But the title can also be a reference to the ancient powers of the natural world, as seen in the album artwork and within the lyrics of a song like “Badlands”. We embrace and give homage to these ancient powers of the earth while rejecting the ancient ideals of man.”
